We have found an approach to God through the life and teachings of Jesus;
We recognize that we are all on a spiritual quest for truth. While we are called to share what we believe, we are not called to decide what others must believe;
We understand our sharing of bread and wine in Jesus' name to be a representation of an ancient vision of God's feast for all peoples;
We invite all people to participate in our community and worship life without insisting that they become like us in order to be acceptable (including but not limited to):
believers and agnostics,
conventional Christians and questioning skeptics,
women and men,
those of all sexual orientations and gender identities,
those of all races and cultures,
those of all classes and abilities,
those who hope for a better world and those who have lost hope;
We know that the way we behave toward one another and toward other people is the fullest expression of what we believe;
We find more grace in the search for understanding than we do in dogmatic certainty – more value in questioning than in absolutes;
We see ourselves as a spiritual community in which we discover the resources required for our work in the world: striving for justice and peace among all people; bringing hope to those Jesus called the least of his sisters and brothers;
We recognize that our faith entails costly discipleship, renunciation of privilege, and conscientious resistance to evil – as has always been the tradition of the church.
Mission Statement: Reaching out to the college community through a non-threatening Christian environment, by inviting and welcoming all persons regardless of age, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, economic, physical or mental ability; assisting individuals in their spiritual journey by weekly study and worship, where students can gain the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ, and develop skills in applying that love in their daily lives; and providing opportunities to serve others by reaching out into our local and global community, to raise awareness of the social justice issues that surround us on a daily basis.
Vision: Treasure Valley Wesley Foundation is a Christian Community that welcomes, reaches out, nurtures and provides respite. We challenge each other to think, feel and live our faith through study and mission. We are a voice for change, justice, reconciliation and transformation in the Treasure Valley, while supporting mission and ministry in the local congregations.
